A visitor arrives on the Adriatic and learns a first word of Croatian. They want to say thank you. A vowel slips into the unfamiliar sound. Hvala becomes Havala.
It is a small imperfection. But the intention is unmistakable: gratitude, offered across a difference in language. To our founder, there was something beautiful in that attempt. A person meeting a place with enough curiosity to try.
He chose HAVALA not to correct the moment, but to keep something of its warmth. It became a name for the meeting of worlds: local and visiting, familiar and unfamiliar, a life at home and a life briefly opened by travel.
More than an escape.
From that beginning came a question. Could a brand be built around the things that make an experience feel genuinely rich: time, beauty, connection, care and a sense of place?
HAVALA is our answer in progress. A Mediterranean-inspired world in which retreats, private houses, gatherings and thoughtful objects are not separate ideas. They are different ways of expressing a shared philosophy of life.
Life should not merely be impressive.
It should be deeply felt.
Our Mediterranean.
The Mediterranean is not one culture, one landscape or one way of being. We do not want to reduce it to a palette of stone, linen and blue water. Those things may shape an image. People give a place its meaning.
What inspires us is a quality of attention: taking time over a meal, caring about the person who made something, making room for conversation, and allowing beauty to be part of the ordinary day. Our world begins on the Adriatic, with curiosity for the wider Mediterranean and respect for its differences.
A personal expression of Adriatic Ritual.
Within Adriatic Ritual, HAVALA is where the larger vision becomes intimate. Not just a destination, but the room in which a guest rests. Not just an event, but the conversation at the end of a table. Not just a product, but the ritual of using it.
We want the world of HAVALA to feel composed but never remote, thoughtful but never self-important. A place to be welcomed, not a place in which to perform.
And underneath every expression, the intention in that first word remains.
Thank you for coming with an open heart.
